Boconnoc Steam Fair – Sunday 25th July 2010
Written By: Steve Hunt
Early Sunday morning Tris and Sam, complete with their dog Tilly, picked me up from my place and made their way up to meet Mark and Julie, Carl and Sally at Chiverton Cross.
So… Onwards and upwards, Tris set off up the A30 complete with sat nav and me for directions to Boconnoc. We met up with Nigel, Paul and Marlene on the way.
On arrival, the poor weather had left it’s toll, just a little muddy! We were shown to our positions where we set up for the day. It turned out to be a glorious day with the sun beaming down and drying out the showground, making tit a very enjoyable day.
There were many different types of cars, commercial vehicles, military vehicles, military engines, motor cycles, tractors and tractor pulling, steam car and steam engines and of course, Mark’s favourite, stationary engines.
Wow! What a lot to see.
That’s without the craft displays and traders section including including the fair, even the house had been opened for the day. This was an excellent day out for all the family in an idyllic setting.
This is a show that should not be missed next year. Make sure you include it in next year’s calendar, perhaps to replace Powderham?
Well worth a look
A big thank you to Tris for giving me a lift, I would have missed a great show.
