The Lancaster Classic Motor Show at the NEC Birmingham 13th – 15th November 2015

Saturday 14th November

An early start for this one – 5.00am (this seems to be the case every time we head out of Cornwall) but being Classic Ford fans it’s well worth it. We arrived at the NEC mid morning (Mark, Steve, John, Dave and Dave’s Uncle Mick) and made a beeline to the auto jumble. Prices were high; John found Rear lights for my Capri Mk1 – £400 crazy, but there was the odd bargain.
We then made our way to the Ford section where there were some stunning cars including a mint Tickford Capri and an equally tidy Capri Perana V8. Despite the massive crowds, by the end of Saturday we managed to see everything apart from Hall 1.
Saturday Evening – After a good feast, we found the local Wetherspoons for one or two beverages and some local entertainment.

Sunday 15th November

After full English, we checked out the rest of the show, with some very competitive quotes from Footman James, we then headed to the American section to feast over some muscle cars. We loved the Mustang Club with their models from throughout the years. It soon got very busy again, so we headed off to the Silverstone Auction. There was a number of Fords up for auction but no one was expecting the prices that they made. The following prices include 12% auctioneers fee’s – Ford Escort RS Turbo S1 £60,188 – Ford Lotus Cortina Mk1 £50,625 – Ford Capri 3.0S £23,625 – Ford Capri RS3100 £48,375 – Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 £90,000. There was a buzzing atmosphere when the Escort RS Turbo was sold, the previous record was £25,000.Classic Fords are now out selling more Prestigious cars like Mercedes, Porsches and some Ferrari’s/Jaguars.
It was soon time to head home, Wow what a fantastic show – can’t wait for next year.

Club Season Finale Run – 27th Sept 2015

This years End of Season Car run was to St Mawes. We had 8 Classic Fords for this one, it was our 3rd visit to St Mawes and 2nd to the Punchbowl & Ladle and with fantastic weather, beautiful scenery and great food, it won’t be our last.
A big thank you to all members who attended and to Jason Goss who joined us with his Mk1 Escort and finally to John who organised the run.

Goodwood Revival – Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th September 2015

Members Mark, John, Dave & Karen attended this one. We had a fabulous time, there was so much to see and do, with almost everyone dressed in 40’s, 50’s or 60’s outfits.

Can’t wait for next year and if you’ve never been we can highly recommend it.

The Cornish Steam & Country Fair 60th

Members Mark (myself), Steve, Carl, John, Bernie, Lee, Craig & Sabrina all braved the weather at 7.30 to set up our Club Stand. Brave the weather was an understatement, after constant rain for most of the day the rally field was waterlogged. We moved position to the top of the field where it was slightly less wet. With the Club stand all up, the next challenge was getting out of the field, gently did it. So we all departed pondering what the weekend would bring, although the forecast looked promising.

An early dry start, with help from Julie I managed to get both of my Capri’s on the stand by 9.00. Bernie bought his 3.0S, although Mr S could have done with a clean! Friday is always a fairly quiet day, so we (myself and Steve) took the opportunity to have a look around. Friday evening 3 more cars arrived on our stand, Steve’s Capri 2.0S, Johns Capri 2.0 and Lee’s Escort RS Turbo S2. By now the field had dried out quite well ready for the busy weekend.

After a crap year weather wise, it was a pleasant surprise to wake up to a bright and sunny day. We were joined by 5 more cars a total of 11 for the day, Craig & Sabrina RS1600i, Carl & Sally Capri Mk1, Kevin Capri 2.8 Special and a couple of guest cars, a Mk1 Transit and a Escort XR3i, both we hope may join our Club. We had a lot of interest in our cars, with many people commenting on the mix of Fords on display. Saturday evening myself, Steve, Craig & Sabrina went down to the beer tent expecting Johnny Cowling to be on stage, unfortunately he wasn’t there. There was however 4 Show engine’s parked outside which looked great in the dark, sheaf pitching and a live band and of course a few beers.

During Saturday both my and Steve’s mobiles died so we had no idea of the time. So when I woke on Sunday, it was light so I got up, went for a wash and a walk and finally bump into a member of the Austin 7 club who said it was 5.35 (I need a new watch me thinks) We were joined by another 5 Cars Robert & Linda Capri 2.0 Laser, Winston Capri 2.8inj, Gary and family Sierra XR4i, Pete and family Capri 280 Brooklands Cosworth and Tony with his Mk2 Cortina, a total of 16 cars. There was loads to see and do with Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, Tractors, Steam, side stalls, auto jumble and a lot more. We did line up for the car parade but the Steam decided to move around and with the long wait our cars were getting hot so we pulled out. Another show over again! A big thank you to car secretary Jason Goss.

Wadebridge Wheels at Wadebridge Showground – Sunday 19th July 2015

After the disappointment of rain spoiling a couple of events, it was great to get out and about again. We had 11 cars on our stand for this one with members Mark (myself) Steve, John, Tom, Lee, Geoff, Kevin, Winston, Carl & Sally, Paul & Marlene and Rob & Linda.

As usual at this show there were plenty of vehicles on display with a wide range of marques. The Ford section was very well supported, with us, Cornwall RS Owners and lots of individual Fords.

It was soon time to head home, looking forward to the next show.

Cornwall RS Show at Little Bodieve Holiday Park Wadebridge – Sunday 21st June 2015

@ Little Bodieve Holiday Park Wadebridge.

Saturday = Car Run

We met at Little Bodieve to sign in for a 10.00am start. We had two cars, myself and Steve in my Capri 2.8 and Rob and Linda in their XR2.

The actual start for the run was at Lands End so it was a quick I mean quick dash down (I feel a small block V8 to sort these Cossie’s may be on the cards) We parked at Lands End for about an hour for some pics, shame about the heavy fog though.

Highlight was a pair of RS500’s a rare sight, and a modern Focus RS500. The run left Lands End and took the Coast road back to Wadebridge, a bit tight in places but great scenery.

Sunday = Show n Shine day

We had 10 cars attending this show and for the first time it was great to welcome Gary with his XR4i and Lee with his RS Turbo S2. Our club stand looked great as the cars were parked in an arc.

There were some great cars on show but one car stood out a Mk3 Escort Rally car driven by (we think) Hannu Mikkola.

The day was really chilled, speaking to friends that we see at shows and owners of great Fords. New member Robert joined us with a gorgeous Capri 3.0S in white.

It was soon time for the Formalities, whilst the trophy winners were being announced; it was to our surprise and delight that we won Best Non RS Club.

A big thank you to Mike and all at Cornwall RS for a great weekend.

Classic & Vintage rally at Killifreth Hill Chacewater – Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th May 2015

Members Mark, Steve, Wintson, John, Will,  Rob & Linda  attended this one. Formally known as the Henry Matthews Show.

There was something for everyone Classic Cars, Tractors, Motorbikes, Steam and lots of Stalls. At 1pm we were invited to take our cars into the main ring where we were asked to talk a bit about cars for the general public.

Will was actually car secretary for the day, so a Big thank to him and all the volunteers for a great day out.
