Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show Saturday 12th November 2016

We had a great time at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC Birmingham on Saturday 12th November, Mark, John and Bernie.

As usual there were some great Fords on display; one of the highlights had to be a Shelby Mustang for £140.000 – WOW.

There was loads to see, including Auto jumble, Traders, Car Clubs, Cars For Sale, Silverstone Auctions. The show is getting bigger each year and too much for one day.

So a weekender is on the cards for next year, can’t wait.

End of Season Classic Ford Run – Sunday 11th September 2016

We all met at the new Cornwall Services for a 11.00am start.

We had a total of 15 cars, with some other Classic Ford friends joining us for the day.

The run took us to St Merryn, the iconic Padstow, Little Petherick, Wadebridge, Rock and on to Polzeath for a coffee stop.

After a one hour stop we continued to Bodmin and then on to the Victoria Pub for a very enjoyable lunch.

A big thank you to Rob and Gary for organising the run with great weather and beautiful scenery.

Cornish Steam and Country Fair 19th 20th and 21st August 2016

Thanks to the following members who attended the Cornish Steam and Country Fair, Steve, Winston, John, Lee, Bernie, Chris, Steve Johns and myself Mark.

We had a difficult time with the weather but still had a great time.

A big thank you to Bernie for extra ratchet straps to keep the gazebo from floating away. One of the highlights was a Blue’s Brothers tribute band on the Saturday night who were excellent.

Hopefully next year the weather will be kinder to us.

Wadebridge Wheels – Sunday 18th July 2016

After rain at the last two shows, we were delighted to see the sun, and it turned one of the hottest days of the year.

We had 14 cars on our stand with a great mixture of Classic Fords, and Geoff proudly showing his latest purchase – a very tidy Sierra RS Cosworth.

With the weather getting hotter my rear number plate kept falling off, and a number of concerned members kept replacing it – all fixed now! thanks everyone.

There were some great cars on display with some great Fords including a pair of Mk1 Escorts Mexico’s, one rally prepared and one original.

The biggest Club though was the Subaru club; they must have had around 60 cars on their stand and seem to support most shows.

This was a massive show with cars, motor cycles and trucks from most makes from by gone years on display.

We tried to look at most stuff but the hot weather took its toll with drinks and ice cream order of the day.

It was soon time to leave great show, can’t wait for 2017.

Cheque given to Cornwall Hospice Care

On Friday 16 July members of Duchy Capri & Classic Ford Club’s Show Committee handed a cheque to Cornwall Hospice Care for the sum of £600. This money was raised at our Classic Ford Show at Holywell Bay Fun Park in May.

Cornwall RS Owners – Sunday 20th June 2016 at Little Bodieve Holiday Park

We had 10 cars for this one, which was a great turn-out considering the weather – very wet and very unusual at this show which is normally dry. We spent the first couple of hours stood under the gazebo, but around mid day the rain had eased so we had a walk around.

There were some great cars on display in the concours section, one RS Fiesta had 4 people trying to dry it and keep the rain off. One car that really stood out though was Sierra RS 500, it was so clean it had to been tailored, but no the owner had driven in the rain over 300 miles and spent the previous day cleaning. It was stunning, so clean and a credit to the owner.

This year to boost numbers non Ford Club’s were in attendance including the Subaru Club, BMW Club and Jap Club all a bit modern really. It was great to catch up with Ford owners, some that were at our show, for a chat. As in previous years we really enjoyed the day and it was soon time for the Trophies and the Raffle.

Last year we won best non RS Club, but to be fair due to the weather we didn’t make much of an effort this year and best Club went to the Jap Club.

A big thank you to Mike and all at Cornwall RS for a great day.

Duchy Capri & Classic Ford Club’s Season Premiere Car Run – Sunday 5th June 2016

We all met at the Fox and Hounds Scorrier and then on to Hayle, St Ives and Penzance. We then headed back to the Inn for all Seasons at Redruth for a fantastic lunch.

Duchy Capri & Classic Ford Club’s Classic Ford Show at Holywell Bay Fun Park Newquay Sunday 22nd May 2016

With the weather unsettled and the fact that we hadn’t organised a show for 4 years – we were a little anxious to say the least.

But we needn’t had worried as Sunday turned out perfect, with blue skies and gorgeous Classic Fords.

We had well over 120 Fords attending from a 1920’s Model A to a brand new 2016 Focus RS, and cars from London and Leeds. As well as individual Fords, Club’s included Obviously Ford, Cornwall RS Owners, OSF and Devon RS Owners.

From early afternoon there was a show ‘n’ shine competition with some classes proving very hard to pick a winner. Overall car of the Show was an Escort RS Cosworth from Devon RS Owners, it was stunning.

Our own club looked amazing with a great mixture of Fords, although we couldn’t award ourselves best club, this was awarded to Cornwall RS.

A big thank you to all members who helped before and on the day. Next year’s Classic Ford Show will be on Sunday 23rd May 2017.

The International Ford Show @ Sandown Park Race Course London Saturday 30th April 2016

Attended by Mark, Steve, Lewis and Kathryn.

With this being a new show, we didn’t know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised as there were some great cars on display both inside and outside. My favourite was a midnight blue Capri 3.0S, which was only painted a week before, it was stunning. It is 40 years since the fiesta was launched and this was celebrated with mk1 to mk7 fiesta’s on show.

For £1 you could enter to win a Ford Focus ST, so we had a few goes – here’s hoping!

Tiff Needell was live on Saturday talking about his life in Motorsport, cars he’s driven, Top Gear and 5th Gear.

Barons Classic Auctioneers held Europe’s first Classic Ford only Auction with 52 lots. We had a good look around, but only serious bidders were allowed once the auction started, so we are unaware of the results, but we can only imagine prices were high. This is a great location and we can see this show going from strength to strength.
